Why Stoke-on-Trent is the ultimate destination

The City Council is embracing the move towards a smarter way of working by removing the restrictions around where, when and how a large proportion of its workforce carries out their duties.

To enable smarter working to be fully effective it has to be about more than just the HR policies. Smarter working combines three distinct areas which, when working together, make up the required ingredients for the organisation to fully embrace the more modern ways of working. If these are not joined up, the concept will not work. These areas are:

  • People - flexible working, blended working, contractual arrangements
  • Technology - paperless, apps, digital
  • Workspaces - fewer buildings, desk ratio
